Red Oak Wood Wall Panels Specifications

Red oak wood is the most valuable species of all oaks. It is a heavy and strong wood used for interiors such as flooring, furniture, boxes, and veneers.

The color is light to medium brown, with a reddish tone that gives it its name (as opposed to White Oak).  

The wood grain is straight with an uneven, coarse texture. Red Oak Wood is easy to work with both hand and machine tools. 

It is important to note that due to the tannic acid in Red Oak Wood, it can stain when combined with iron, particularly if wet.

Appearance: Red Oak Wood has a course texture and is straight-grained, hard, tough, very stiff, and strong.

Workability: When properly dried and treated, oak wood glues well, machines very well, and accepts a variety of finishes.

Sustainable: The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) does not list red oak in its appendices.

The Forest Legality Initiative also states that red oak can be exported and traded internationally.

International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN) does not list red oak as an endangered species.
